The beach is only about 20 m away, and this spot is quieter than the main beach. It’s also a five-minute walk from the nearest place to eat. Sandaru and his family were lovely, and they put together a great BBQ when we asked, with some really good breadfruit chips. They also serve breakfast in their beautiful garden. Sandaru has a great setup here.

Sandaru cabanas is in south Mirissa, about 20m from the third bay of Mirissa beach. The owner is friendly and keen to help with whatever you need, and can arrange things for a reasonable price. There’s a lovely garden for special occasions, plus BBQ nights and relaxed parties. If you’re planning a trip to Mirissa, give this cabana a look. You’ll see what I mean once you’re there. Enjoy your trip. Peace! ☮☮☮

I felt completely at ease at Sandal's guesthouse, thanks to the warmth and hospitality of the Sandal family. His parents always greeted me, even though I don't speak much English, and I was truly impressed by their kindness. You can also have home-cooked meals here. The ocean is just a few minutes' walk away, and the air conditioning made it easy to come back from the beach and nap when I got tired. I loved being among local Sri Lankan families and friends, all so welcoming and smiley. The house itself is eco-friendly, built with Sri Lankan soil walls and bamboo pillars. It isn’t concrete, which gave me a strangely safe feeling. The family also works at Turtle Point to protect turtles and rents snorkels. If you want to experience everyday Sri Lanka, I’d definitely stay here again. It felt like paradise.
