The Green View Yala

The owner made us feel right at home and cooked an amazing, delicious breakfast. We spent two nights at The Green View in Yala while visiting Yala National Park, and had a fantastic time. The accommodation was quirky and unique, with beautiful views and everything we needed to be comfortable. We only found out later that the owner could arrange safaris, boat trips, and transport to our next destination. With his local knowledge and willingness to help, we would have booked those through him if we’d known. Nothing to dislike, and we’d highly recommend staying here. Thanks for looking after us. We’d definitely come back.

We really enjoyed staying in this nicely decorated wooden cottage. There are two rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. Outside, there’s a lovely terrace and green garden with palms and plants, plus hammocks and tables where you can relax and look over the rice field. The hosts were friendly and hospitable, and breakfast was good. It’s handy for the beautiful lake and ancient Yatala stupa, which is recommended at sunset. Red Pizza and Smoky Kitchen are a few minutes away on foot, and both are solid places for lunch or dinner. If you stay upstairs, keep in mind that the wooden floor is noisy late in the evening, so neighbors downstairs can hear your steps clearly.

The views over the rice fields from both the upper and lower terrace are incredible, and it’s a lovely place to hang out when you’re not exploring. The host family were caring and lovely during our two-night stay. You can tell they put a lot of care into the garden, especially compared with other guest houses. We came for a safari to 'Yala National Park', which the owners arranged for us. It was a great experience, and the driver they found was great too.

Such a beautiful stay, with a wonderful garden and exceptional service! Just keep an eye out for bugs getting into the room. If one does, you’ve got a bug hunt on your hands, haha.
