The Safari

We booked two safaris to Yala through the hotel, and our guide was great. We were lucky enough to spot four leopards! They also arranged our taxi to Ella, with reasonable prices and good communication. The lake views are stunning, and the pool is a lovely bonus. The food was good too: we had breakfast at the hotel on two mornings and took one breakfast away for an early safari. We also tried the evening buffet one night and loved the chicken curry, crispy mushrooms, and pakoras. The staff were outstanding, all so friendly and helpful. Special thanks to the woman who checked us into room 112 and kept helping us during the stay, always remembering us and asking how our days went. The woman at the spa was just as friendly and professional, and we both had lovely massages. I’m sorry I can’t remember your names. We’ve just had a wonderful three-night stay at EKHO Safari and would happily return. Some towels may be a little frayed, and parts of the hotel could use a refresh, but it’s truly a beautiful place to stay. Thank you for a great visit 🧡

After a day of sightseeing, settling in by the pool and looking out over the lake was wonderfully peaceful. The pool was lovely for a refreshing dip, and the tranquillity of EKHO Safari was a real treat. Staff were attentive and friendly from the first greeting, offering refreshments when we arrived and during our stay. The hotel grounds have a cafe serving an awesome espresso, even by Melbourne standards, which was very welcome in the morning. Both breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent, with tasty food. Recommended.

I visited the hotel again last month. The food and service were very good, though Chef Akitha wasn’t there that day. I’d written his name in my diary and wanted to finally thank him for the wonderful service from my visit about a year and a half ago to Echo Safari Hotel in Tissamaharama. At the BBQ action area, Akitha asked what I wanted and made it even better than I expected. He was friendly and flexible, and I noticed he treated every guest with the same warmth. His service made my day. I’m sorry this thank-you is late. The food was delicious and the place beautiful on that earlier visit too, and the service was excellent. Thanks to Chef Akitha and everyone at Echo Safari Hotel Tissamaharama for their kindness and hospitality.

The view over the surroundings was amazing, and the food was tasty and well prepared. Ghee rice with chicken masala was the highlight of our meals, absolutely delicious and memorable. The friendly, helpful staff made us comfortable throughout our wonderful stay at EKHO Safari Tissa. A lovely place to relax and enjoy good hospitality. Highly recommended.
