Isle Of Thalpe

The staff were AMAZING, and the breakfasts were the best part of our 4-night stay. They also made us a festive lunch for Sinhalese new year, which we really appreciated. The facilities, though, felt worn, rusty, and poorly maintained. One of the three rooms to the side had been demolished to make room for a bigger build next door, so the photos no longer reflect what’s there. The grass wasn’t as well kept, and the beach stairs had been reduced to the steel and wires left after the concrete was removed. Inside, the room felt dated and in need of refurbishment. We had a great time with the friendly, helpful staff, but during our 1-month tour of Sri Lanka, this was the least value for money.

Breakfast was a wonderful start to every day, fresh and delicious, and served with so much care. The staff made the stay feel truly special. They looked after me so well, and all the little things, the smiles, and their help made it unforgettable. The villa itself was spacious and stylish, with a breathtaking view. Waking up at Isle of Thalpe felt like a little getaway in paradise. I’d recommend this beautiful place without hesitation.

My wife, our 2 kids, and I ate here a couple of times while using the sun loungers on Dalawella beach. The food was excellent and the staff really friendly. We weren’t hotel guests, but they still took great care of us. It would’ve been easy to spend the whole day there. Thanks!

I stopped in while driving south. Since the day before was poya day, the fishermen hadn’t gone out, but the staff came out with some really nice local dishes.
