The value here comes from the unusual private island stay and the activities, and I’d recommend at least two nights for families or couples. There are only three spacious tents on the island, with proper places to eat and hang out. Hosts bring you to and from the island by boat, the only way in. It’s a special kind of luxury camping in the North-Western Part of Sri Lanka, with an eco-friendly approach and private-island feel. You get the typical Kalpitiya climate, and they can arrange activities like Dolphin Watching, Kite Surfing, night-time Mud Crab Hunting, and snorkeling. You can also swim in the lagoon or take the boat to the beach. The staff were very helpful, and the food was remarkable. Try the fresh, delicious lagoon and seafood dishes.

The way they handle the ecological side feels sincere, not like a marketing gimmick. I spoke with the on-site manager about it: the founders are growing the project slowly and adding infrastructure as needed. They bring in water in larger containers and refill bottles to reduce plastic. Electricity and hot water come from solar power, and they built around the landscape without clearing vegetation. It’s a great business approach, and the place deserves to succeed. We stayed for a few days at the end of our honeymoon and had a lovely time. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They arranged lessons and dropped us by boat at our kitesurfing school, and we also went on a dolphin tour and a lagoon trip. The tents have sturdy wooden floors and en-suite bathrooms, with reliably hot showers. They stayed comfortable in the daytime sun and at night. The food was tasty, mostly Sri Lankan with enough variety that we didn’t repeat a meal, even breakfast. A fantastic place with a genuinely eco-friendly outlook.

We had three fantastic days here. The place is secluded, with great food and luxury camping, and wild donkeys roaming around. The staff made sure we enjoyed every moment. Nearby, there are options for whale watching, kite surfing, and safari trips. There are only three tents, with a maximum of nine guests, which makes the stay very exclusive. It’s also very eco-friendly, and I can only recommend it.

We had the whole place to ourselves, and it was a really great concept. The lodging was excellent, and it felt like an eco-friendly holiday without having to give anything up. The food was good, especially the very fresh seafood. We’ll definitely go back.
