The Beach Boutique Hotel

The second night was the one real problem: loud music from the neighbouring establishment, The Black Star, kept us awake and spoiled our relaxed morning until noon the next day. We heard this had been reported and wasn’t a common occurrence. Otherwise, the hotel kindly stored two suitcases while we spent two weeks exploring Sigiriya, Kandy, and the Southwest Coast, which made traveling much lighter. After our brother left Sri Lanka, we came back for its convenient airport location and to collect one bag. We stayed in the Visi Dela family suite, with lots of space, a lovely bathroom and bathtub, big windows over the pool and ocean, and a charming balcony. We were so comfortable that we extended our stay at the last minute and used the laundry service. When we returned at the beginning of March, it felt like coming home. They welcomed us with refreshing lime juices and gave us the Visi Dela again. We were tired, so room service lunch was perfect; we also ordered tea to have with baked goods we’d bought earlier in Bopitiya. We returned to collect our suitcase, which they’d kept for our entire Sri Lanka stay, mostly filled with souvenirs from our travels around Asia. It was also the ideal last-night location, just minutes from the airport, and we used the excellent laundry service once more. Our first visit was in early February, with three of us including our brother. This was our first stop after the airport, less than 30 minutes away, chosen for the beachfront location. Strong currents meant swimming in the sea wasn’t an option, but it suited our first couple of nights in Sri Lanka. We arrived very late and the cheerful staff checked us in around midnight. Both bedrooms were spacious, bright, and clean, with comfortable beds and pillows, and we slept soundly after the trip. Each room cost US$55 without breakfast. In the morning, the place felt bright and beautiful; the pool was excellent, and the dining tables had sea views that were lovely at sunset. We had a wonderful breakfast, then walked at an easy pace for 20 minutes to Bopitiya. We took a tuk-tuk back just in time for cocktails and beer, followed by a fantastic lunch of three Chicken Biryani dishes. The chicken was delicious, as if cooked over an open flame. On another return, every room was booked, which made it clear the hotel was popular.

We arrived around 3:00 am to find the small boutique hotel shut up, so we had to knock for someone to let us in. It can be hard to spot because there are no big signs, and it’s in a quiet neighborhood of small hotels and homes. The nearest shops are about a 20 minute walk away. The rooms are basic and were clean, though I did see a roach crawling on the floor. We had half-board, breakfast and dinner; the food was okay, nothing special. The hotel is beside the beach, but the beach is just okay, with reef and rocks up to the shore. The pool area is much nicer.

The pool was clean, and there was a small one for the kids, who enjoyed the family trip as much as we did. We had a spacious, tidy room on the 2nd floor with a great city view, plus a sizable bathroom. Food was varied and suited every palate. We stayed for 3 days last month, and the service was great. It was a truly grand experience, and I think this is one of the best star deals in Sri Lanka.

The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and comfortable, and I loved the range of food on offer. Every staff member provided service that matched the food. What stands out most at this calm, quiet Beach Boutique Hotel is the breathtaking view of the sea, sky, and pool. It feels like a peaceful haven for in-house guests, an ideal place to unwind. I’d recommend it without hesitation for a relaxing stay with great food and service.
