The rooftop, location, and generally nice staff are about the only good things here, though one staff member was kind of rude. This is a very bare-bones hostel. The rooms get boiling hot with no AC, and the main road makes it extremely loud all night. The bed is uncomfortable, with just a pillow and mattress, no blanket or throw. The lockers aren't remotely secure, and the shower setup is bizarre, with no hot water. The listing states in advance that there’s no AC or hot water, so those aren't complaints about missing advertised features, just part of the picture. It’s a bit of a dump, but I guess you get what you pay for.

There’s loud music every Monday night, and I wouldn’t recommend this place. Earlier this year, while I was there, my chain was stolen. Only three other guests were staying at the hotel, and they were all at the beach, so I think the staff must have taken it. When I asked, they said they knew nothing. One employee also kept pressuring me to buy overpriced dr0gs, so I left earlier than I’d planned. Only go there if you have no other option.

The rooms smelled bad, and the staff weren’t helpful. There’s nowhere to properly relax or socialize unless you’re buying very expensive alcohol, and the vibe and premises are awful. It costs only 2 dollars less than other hostels nearby, but that saving isn’t worth it. I wish I could go back and pick somewhere else.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, and a great location. The beach is about a 6-minute walk away. I’d definitely return, especially for the fabulous Monday night party 😎

It’s a good hostel, and I’d stay again if I’m back in Weligama. The main beach is a 5-minute walk away, with lots of restaurants nearby and both the train and bus stations within walking distance. The beds are comfortable, but there’s no AC in the rooms, so they can get very warm at night. They also have a Monday party with music until about 1:30 or 2am, so if you want a good night’s sleep, maybe stay somewhere else on Mondays.
