Weligama Bay Resort

The one downside was the Wi-Fi: it connected fine but was so slow that we used the mobile eSIM we bought at the airport instead. The TV didn’t have a smart TV function or Netflix, but the staff kindly gave us an HDMI cable so we could stream shows from a laptop. Everything else made this possibly the best hotel experience I’ve had. Our ocean view room was stylish, clean, and fantastic, with a stunning view. Staff were welcoming and attentive whenever we had a question or needed something. Breakfast had lots of delicious options, the pool area was clean and relaxing, and the amazing beach was right beside it. Room service food was some of the best we had on our trip in Sri Lanka. The gym was clean and well equipped. I highly recommend it.

The beach is beautiful, and Weligama Bay’s gentle waves make it a lovely place to learn surfing. There’s an excellent pool and a good range of cuisines at the restaurants. The main restaurant’s buffet was delicious, and service across the hotel was outstanding. I also had one of the best massages I’ve ever experienced at the spa. It was my first trip to Sri Lanka, and I was keen to choose a special hotel. This one exceeded my expectations. I’ve stayed at resorts around the world, and it’s among the best hotels I’ve visited. 10 out of 10, and I’ll definitely return.

We only stayed one night at the Weligama Bay Marriott, but it was incredibly comfortable. The huge room had an excellent view, and hearing the ocean first thing in the morning felt healing. We arrived quite late, yet several team members greeted us with bright smiles. Thineth took a special interest in our family, shared local information, and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. Thank you, Thineth! I only wish the weather had cooperated so we could try the pool and beach. We’ll have to come back for the full experience.

We went to Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa for the Valentine’s Day dinner buffet, and the first impression was lovely. The decorations were beautiful, the restaurant was packed, and the service impressed us. The price was higher than at similar hotels, as expected, but after this first visit we’d been considering a stay there. The meal itself was disappointing for such a special evening. There wasn’t much variety or much that looked tempting. The meat options all tasted much the same and bland, while the Chinese section had only one rice, one noodle, and one beef dish. Some items, including cheese, ran out and weren’t refilled promptly. We ordered white sauce penne at the live station, but it was undercooked and the sauce tasted like plain milk. Desserts looked nicely presented but didn’t taste as good as they looked. The atmosphere and service were commendable, but the food quality and range didn’t meet our expectations.
