The proprietor and his son did their best to handle every request during our stay, and the service was top-notch. The hotel could use some investment, though, since it falls short on amenities.

I stayed three nights in January 2019, not long after the official opening. The hotel was still developing then, and it caters to individuals, families, and minibus groups. As a regular visitor to Sri Lanka, I found it tastefully designed and appointed to a high European standard. The manager has overseas operations experience, and he and the local staff give guests a warm welcome. It's set in a lovely garden, quietly off the A10 (Kurunegala- Puttalam) highway, yet Nikaweratiya is close by. Visitors interested in history, local life, or wildlife can easily reach the little-known ancient city of Panduwas Nuwara and nearby water bodies with exceptional bird life. This part of North Western Province deserves more discovery and a place on tour operators' better-known routes. I'll include this restful stop next time I visit to take in Sri Lanka's beautiful, distinctive landscapes.
