Vytautas Mineral SPA

I’ve stayed at Vytautas Mineral Spa several times while holidaying in Lithuania with my family, and I’ve always enjoyed it. The service has been excellent. The spa reception staff are especially polite and professional. They advise on treatments and beauty products, and always do their best to accommodate guests. Definitely five stars from me, and highly recommended!

The hotel and spa facilities were enjoyable: the spa was excellent, the buffet decent, though not really worth €25, and the service was generally fine. But one deeply embarrassing incident overshadowed all of that. I swapped some of my family’s books for used books in the hotel library. I thought this kind of exchange was common and encouraged in hotels around the world, and there were no signs saying it wasn’t allowed. Then I was confronted in the car park, accused of stealing, and made to return the books on the spot. Security staff laughed while I tried to explain that book swapping is a normal, sustainable practice, and even asked if I thought I could “do the same in a supermarket.” It was bizarre, humiliating, and completely unnecessary. It’s a shame, because the hotel and spa are genuinely enjoyable. That treatment of a guest was unacceptable and left me with a very sour impression. Until management addresses this unprofessional behavior, I can’t recommend the place.

Bed bugs ruined the experience. We were told they could only offer us a room in the same category. We weren’t asking for an upgrade. We left feeling a little paranoid that bed bugs might be everywhere. It was snowing when we arrived, and the tiles leading to the entrance were very slippery.

I spent two weeks in Birstonas with my family in August, and we also spent some time at Vytautas spa. It’s a spacious, tidy, and wonderful complex, but I found the spa staff arrogant and selfish. I had three spa procedures and was unpleasantly surprised that each one ended earlier than advertised. The 60-minute treatment I paid for, for example, lasted only 50 minutes. Across the three procedures, I lost 30 minutes worth 45 euros. I don’t like being cheated.
