Medical SPA Eglės sanatorija Druskininkai

This was my second stay at Egles Sanatorija in Druskininkai, and I enjoyed the procedures again. The rooms were good and quiet, most staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent with lots of choices. I plan to come back. There was a real missed chance to do better with customer service, though. The documents and signs around the facilities use Lithuanian, Russian, English and German. I’m fluent only in English, though I know some Lithuanian and very little Russian. My schedule was printed in English, so I’m sure the computer system had me listed as an English speaker. Still, at almost every procedure I was sent to a technician who didn’t speak English, or whose English was about as limited as my Lithuanian. We managed. For a few procedures, the person spoke only Russian, so we resorted to simple hand signals. We got through it, but this was a missed opportunity. The system knew I speak English, so I should have been matched with an English speaker, or someone who would speak Lithuanian with me. We were in Lithuania, so I expect to hear Lithuanian by default. I appreciate chances to practice it and build confidence in what I do know. How else am I going to learn? I don’t want someone speaking Russian to me in the hope I’ll figure it out or else, so I always answered in Lithuanian. One nurse actually told me in Lithuanian that I needed to learn to speak Lithuanian. I understood her and, yes, I agree. I was trying. The unfortunate part for her was that my wife was in a nearby room and heard her. My wife was not happy! I look forward to staying again, and hope we’ve both improved by then. Thank you.

The rooms were decent and the spa was great. The food, though, felt very cheap, and some of the fruit was rotten. There were also lots of Russians, who seemed to be treated well and greeted in Russian with a smile.

A physician put together the treatments, which was great, and the price was hard to beat. It made for a lovely getaway.

The room could really use blackout curtains, unfortunately. Still, the staff at Egle comfort were absolutely outstanding, and I’d highly recommend the place for a health spa. 10 out of 10. Thank you, ladies!
