The soups were good, but the salads weren’t, and when my ribs arrived there were only two. What really put me off was the lack of hospitality. I felt unwelcome for coming in and wanting to order. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

We were there with the whole family, and the staff were rude and disrespectful. The waiter didn’t tell us at the start that they didn’t want to be filmed in a tourist area. Instead, the boss had to come out and explain that they felt uncomfortable being in the pictures. It was the first time I’d encountered service like that.

The food was OK, but not worth the money, and the menu is overpriced. Service is still painfully slow: waiters can leave a table waiting more than 20 minutes before taking an order. The place isn’t even that big, so it’s hard to see an excuse for such poor service. I was here five years ago and nothing has changed, including that same “whatever” attitude.

We had to climb a wall in the rain just to get inside. We hadn’t been told there was a time we needed to be back by, and when we returned from a walk at 10:50 as the rain started, the main gates were locked. I phoned the hotel for 15 minutes without getting an answer, then, as a 63-year-old man, struggled over a roughly 2-metre wall. At the main door I spent another long stretch banging before someone finally let me in. This could be a lovely hotel, but it needs new staff. Breakfast was hardly inspiring, just omelette, sausage, or both, with no alternative. The evening meals had a good choice at a reasonable price. The rooms were OK, but there was no coffee-making setup, and they say you can’t make drinks in your room. We’re now in Palanga at a much cheaper hotel with much better service.
