4/10
The staff deserve credit. After travelling through Estonia and Latvia, I was expecting rude, hostile service, but the reception and restaurant staff were friendly and professional, much better than what I’d encountered in the other Baltic countries. They’ve clearly been trained well. The rest of the place felt badly overdue for maintenance, as if nothing had been done since the 1960s. The lift seemed like the first one ever invented, and my partner got a static shock every time she pressed the call button. We booked the most expensive room, the apartment, and it felt like my great grandmother’s living room: ancient furniture, stained carpet, broken bathroom tiles, and a very uncomfortable hard bed. The place wasn’t especially dirty, but it failed the white towel test. The restaurant hit us with a public bathroom smell as soon as we walked in. The waitress worked hard and gave very good service, but the bartender could use better cocktail training. The food felt dated and uninteresting, not horrible but not good either. You guys need to do better.

10/10
The room was lovely, clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed. We also had private parking, which saved a lot of hassle, and the location was fantastic, close to great bars, restaurants and sights. Most of all, the staff were wonderful. They were helpful, lovely, and went out of their way for us. That’s how I felt, anyway. I’d give them six stars if I could. We’ll definitely come back.

For what we paid, the room was acceptable and clean, though it clearly hadn’t been renovated in a long time. The toilet seat was broken. I told reception on the first day and was promised a replacement, but it never happened. There was no soap in the toilet, and the bathroom soap dispenser didn’t work.

10/10
The location was ideal, between the old town, just a few minutes away on foot, and another pedestrian area full of restaurants, cafés and a nice atmosphere. Breakfast was generous and tasty, too. Our room was clean, really spacious and had all the comforts, furniture and equipment you could want. The price was very good, and the receptionists were friendly and helpful. I wish I could have stayed longer!

6/10
The location is fine and breakfast was okay, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The room and the rest of the hotel have a dark, old-fashioned feel, and the room wasn’t cozy. The toilet door was loud, and the shower curtain was unpleasant and impractical.
