King Mindaugas Apartments

Communication with the host, Arvydas, was the biggest letdown. He didn’t properly acknowledge my concerns about the leak, the missing appliances, or whether the price was fair. When I fractured my arm and told him I was in the emergency room, he still said I had to remove my luggage straight away or pay an extra charge. That felt rigid and lacking basic empathy. The maintenance staff, on the other hand, were polite and professional when they came to adjust the heating twice, though the temperature in the second apartment kept fluctuating. I never touched the boiler controls. I was first put in an apartment advertised as “luxury,” where the bathroom leaked after every shower. Water kept coming out by the door frame for 20-30 minutes, which was a clear slipping risk, and the heating was far too hot. I was then moved to a noticeably lower-standard apartment. It had a smaller, less useful kitchen and lacked items from the original listing, including a dishwasher and tumble dryer. I was cold there at night. The apartments seemed poorly maintained, and nobody took responsibility for the ongoing problems. The location also isn’t central, so I’d strongly recommend staying in Kaunas town centre if that’s where you’re visiting. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The apartment was spacious for two, though five people would be pushing it. The washer-dryer was really handy, and we had a lovely stay. We came for Nords, which is literally next door: go into Nords reception, take the door on the left, and you’re through the next one. I wasn’t keen on using a phone as the key, since my husband’s phone is always running out of battery.

My first stay, just after New Year’s, was perfect. This second time, it looked like we’d arrived as soon as the previous guests left, with only the bed changed 😂. The walls and ceiling were dirty, including splashes above the kitchen, and the shower walls were grimy. The vent looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a year, and the fridge was disgusting, full of crumbs and stains inside. You’d expect the cleaners to do a better job in a four-star apartment.

We had a really enjoyable time in this great apartment, in a great location. The supermarket is very close, so it’s fun to pick up local food and cook your own meals in the kitchen.
