SPA Hotel Belvilis

We only stopped for lunch at the hotel restaurant, so I can’t speak to the rooms. It’s a lovely designer space by the lake, with trees all around. There’s a good range of modern Lithuanian and Italian dishes, local beers, and tasty options for kids. I’m looking forward to staying there sometime.

The natural surroundings were beautiful, though the hotel itself could use a renovation. We had a really nice room with windows on two sides, but the bedside reading lights didn’t work and the lamp by the corridor side of the room was broken.

No fuss here, just a comfortable, clean stay with a great vibe and a good location. Belvilis was exactly as advertised. I’d definitely come back.

We only ate at the restaurant, we didn’t stay at the hotel. The setting and views were beautiful, and the children’s corner had a variety of toys, which came in handy for us. The service and food were awful. We arrived just after 1pm and were told we could go in. We ordered within ten minutes, then I struggled to change my toddler in a tiny toilet with no changing station. After that, we waited about half an hour before taking her to play. The restaurant wasn’t busy, with only 4-5 tables occupied, but after roughly another half hour we were fed up. We asked if our toddler’s meal could come first so she could eat while we waited. The waitress said she’d check, and within five minutes brought it out. A couple of minutes later the rest of our food arrived. We’d ordered the fish of the week, perch, chicken skewers, a burger, and traditional Lithuanian pancakes for our child. Only the child’s food was warm. Everything else was stone cold, as if it had sat out for half an hour. The house lemonade was watery with no lemon taste, the perch was bland, the chicken looked pale and unappetising as well as tasting bland, and the burger was mediocre at best. It came to 85€. Other tables were served at about the same time, so they’d waited just as long. Wasps and hornets had taken over the terrace, and it didn’t seem the restaurant had done anything about it. The waitress never apologised, checked whether we wanted more drinks, or warned us beforehand about the long wait. She mostly hung around the bar area looking busy, and when we left, she avoided acknowledging us as we said goodbye. We won’t eat there again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
