Green Park Klaipeda Hotel

The ferry is nearby, which is the one point in its favor. I stayed two nights on a round trip, and this was my worst hotel experience apart from the Green Hotel in Vilnius. The heater didn't work, the floor was dirty, the bathroom shabby, and the beds felt like army beds. At breakfast the staff seemed unmotivated. They were eating, giggling, and making needless noise instead of working. They were probably unqualified students.

The location works well if you're taking the ferry, since it's right beside it, though downtown is about a 15-minute drive away. Still, I'd look elsewhere for an overnight stay. The bed is terrible, the carpets are unclean, and the bathroom needs a proper cleaning. It feels more like a hostel than a hotel, and I can't imagine getting a good night's sleep there.

Breakfast was tasty, with plenty to choose from. I had eggs and salted porridge with some jam mixed in, which was delicious. The beds were the downside: the mattresses were extremely soft, and I wouldn't want to sleep on them for many days because of my spine. For a single night, though, they were okay. A decent place for one or two nights, and I can't fault anything else.

It was quieter than I expected given how close it is to the port and dual carriageway. This is an old, basic contractor hotel, but adequate. Breakfast was okay. You can request a kettle, though you'll need to find a mug before the bar or restaurant closes.
