We’d stayed at Elnia year after year and had a great time while a woman was the administrator. This time, we had a very unpleasant situation with Gediminas. I’ve never met anyone as much of a scoundrel as that guy, and he acts like he owns the place. This year we stayed at Žaldokinė and were happy with it. The houses may be worse, but they were clean, and the administrator was really nice.

The biggest shock came a few days later, when Booking.com emailed to ask why we hadn’t shown up. We had stayed there, but the woman at reception had told them we never arrived. I suspect that may have been to avoid commission or taxes, and I have proof. I believe the business should be investigated. Treating customers this way and possibly hiding taxes is disgusting and shameful. We went to Elnias Poilseviėje in Šventoji in early July, my mother, our little puppy and me. I regret the stay. The service was terrible, and the place was a huge disappointment. We’d been promised a log cabin with a lake view, but instead we looked at a dirty wall. There was no roof outside, so we couldn’t sit out there in the rain, which fell every day. Our room was dirty and smelled awful. There was no stove, and it wasn’t mentioned anywhere, so even simple cooking wasn’t possible. Please avoid this place. It was one of the worst travel experiences of our lives.
