Auberge De L'Our

Luis gave us incredible service, and after waiting 15 years I finally got to have Nessliqueur again. I first discovered this walnut liqueur here 15 years ago, and on our weekend in Luxembourg I drove halfway across the country to come back for it. As far as I know, you can only get this liquid gold in this town or region, and I'd say it's a must-have. They also have a walnut cream like Baileys. I recommend it wholeheartedly. I'm beyond delighted. The picture is of me telling my son the story of our trip to Luxembourg and how I'd waited 15 years to return here. He loved hearing it, hence the smile.

We said we planned to have lunch, but even after noon the waiter didn't seem interested in taking our order, though the kitchen was open from noon. We started with a drink, then got a plain Salade niçoise that was dry, D-R-Y. This place is a joke. Fire the staff!

The location made visiting Vianden easy: the hotel is by the Our, with the castle and chairlift a short walk away and plenty of restaurants nearby. Our room was larger than expected, had a lovely view, and seemed good for the price at first. The staff were friendly and showed us around, but on closer inspection it wasn't clean, with cobwebs in several places and a dirty shower. We also heard a lot of noise from outside and the neighboring room. For what we paid it was a decent hotel, but the dirt and noise took away from the stay.

The traffic was really loud on the road-facing side, which made it hard to sleep, so that's why I gave four stars. Otherwise everything was great: a comfortable bed, good shower, fantastic breakfast, and a friendly receptionist. Great location too.
