It’s a shame a cultural heritage site can’t be seen by anyone. I was very disappointed to find the manor inaccessible, with a fence around the grounds.

The road is dirt, and the advertising is misleading. Daugapils is a better place to stay.

So quiet and peaceful here, and I slept especially well. People have been living in these houses while restoring the manor for 25 years. Groups can visit, but renovation work goes on every day, so register ahead of time since the owners may be away. Events can also be organized here.

The manor’s collection of antiques from different periods and events is bigger than what you sometimes find in a museum, and nearly everything can be looked at and explored. You can feel the past at every turn here, especially if you’re interested in history and want to hear about it from the manor’s owners, who have been restoring it for 23 years. Faimjas and Arvīda have put in so much work, it’s truly impressive. Parts of the film "Pilsēta pie upes" were filmed in Arendole’s interiors. After visiting, you’ll definitely want to watch it again. The manor also has modern historical reminders of that event. In the courtyard, you can see Arvīda’s collection of almost 20 Soviet motorcycles, along with a military police "bobiks".
