Breakfast was good, with a lovely sea view. The room felt dated, though it was comfortable. By today's standards the hotel feels more like a 3-star place, even if it might have earned 5 stars in the 1990s, so a redesign would help. The staff were amazing. Two days before I arrived, they called to get things ready and spoke very good French, which was a nice surprise. When I got there, Linda kindly and professionally showed me around the hotel and its restaurants and spa.

Breakfast was good, but the deluxe room didn't feel deluxe at all. It looked and felt like the 1990s, both in service and appearance, and only the third and fourth floors seemed to have been renovated. Even after I showed proof of payment, we had to spend two days proving that we'd paid for the room.

We enjoyed the Italian restaurant, and the Wellness centre was good overall. But the stay felt overpriced for what the hotel offers. The rooms are dated and should have been renovated years ago: the carpets were dirty, the bathroom old-fashioned, and the furniture looked dirty from age. Breakfast was nothing special, and plenty of other hotels have the same or better. The value for money is poor, and the rooms and some other parts of the hotel really need proper renovation.

My husband gave me a weekend at the hotel with spa and massage, but it turned into a huge disappointment. Arranging the spa and treatments was a constant back and forth between hotel management and employees, with lots of confusion and attitude. I didn't feel like a valued client at all. At check-in, the administrator claimed not to know where the massage room was. In the spa, they insisted my husband was booked for a massage too, even though our email appointment was for one person, and threatened we'd have to pay even if he didn't come. When I finished my massage, they asked me to pay although my husband had already paid. I had to listen to a lecture and more threats, while the spa manager treated her employees in a way that looked like open bullying. We stood our ground and paid nothing extra, but the whole experience felt like staff had been told to squeeze as much money out of guests as possible. Service and clients seemed to come second to money. Jurmala has lots of nice hotels and places, but this isn't one of them. The prices and appetite for money may be five-star, but the service and attitude certainly aren't. Decide if you want to be treated like a wallet.

We won't be back. The stay over New Year's Eve was an ordeal, not a relaxing break, and the price-to-quality ratio made no sense. The hotel is extremely expensive, yet I felt guilty just for being a guest. There was no respect for us, and I wouldn't recommend it to others. Overnight parking alone costs €25, which is outrageously high. We'd booked a 33 sq. m room for two online, but an extra bed had been made up and took up almost all the space. We asked them to fix that. The room was old, with worn curtains, a dated bathroom and tired furniture, a small bed, and a very old, small elevator. The shower gel ran out after the first day and wasn't replaced during cleaning. The receptionist walked us to the elevator because our room was in a far wing and said it was on the third floor. It turned out to be on the fourth, so we were given the wrong information. Breakfast was another mess. At check-in, we agreed on 10:00, but when we arrived then, they sat us in the lobby bar and told us to wait. Guests were called in a chaotic order, and we waited 28 minutes, which was unacceptable. The pool area was overcrowded in the evenings and poorly maintained, with dirty showers. We'd booked a 6:00 PM visit, but there wasn't one free chair or table for our things or bathrobes. We found an empty chair by the pool and used it, then an unpleasant woman told us we couldn't because children's swimming lessons were on. I didn't respond, but she then took a different chair that had other guests' belongings on it, without checking what was there or considering that things could get wet.
