Libava

I stayed in a mansard room, which was spacious and very clean. The hotel also has good room service and a lovely winter garden. It's not very big, but it's a nice spot to relax with a glass of wine. They took real care with the vegan breakfast I requested, even though the restaurant mostly serves fish. That was a great surprise, and I'll definitely come back. Loved the guy at the front desk!

There was just one waiter working in the restaurant, so it felt understaffed. The food was edible, but the quality didn't justify the price. I ordered fish from the gourmet section and liked only the vegetables on the plate. The fruit dish from the dessert section was good. I don't plan to return.

I'd recommend having breakfast in the winter garden, especially when it's cold out. You can sit somewhere warm and look over the canal linking the sea and Liepāja’s lake, even while it's snowing. The hotel itself is very nice, with private parking and spacious, clean rooms with good furniture. The bathroom is especially big and well equipped. The beds do squeak, though, so if you move around at night, sleeping quietly can be harder. Is there anything better in Liepāja? I don't think so.

Room 5 was spacious, with twin beds. The hotel is right by the water and about a 7-minute drive from the blue beach. One problem was how quickly the room got very warm. The air con seemed to do no more than a fan, and only one window opened. It was raining, so I couldn't leave it open either, as the room started flooding quickly.
