Maestro Design Hotel

We had a great weekend, and the staff made us feel welcome. The city is lovely, and the hotel’s location worked perfectly for us. A couple of things could be improved: the room entrance felt too dark, and the open shower area without a door wasn’t ideal. Breakfast ordering also felt a bit complicated. I like that staff are ready to make what guests want, but it takes time for everyone. Having some food ready to grab, alongside the made-to-order menu, would work better for me.

For a small hotel, this place is cosy and better than I expected. It was fully booked during my stay, yet I didn’t hear noise from other rooms. The thick, four-pane windows also kept the busy street from being a problem, and the air conditioning worked well in summer. The rooms have a decent setup, including free machine coffee, big mugs, a separate tea kettle and a TV with around 30 channels. It isn’t huge, but it’s fine. Breakfast was good and made to suit what you want. You order from the menu the evening before, then staff serve it to you, and you can still come down at the last minute. I thought that was a nice arrangement. The hotel is right in the city centre, and the reception ladies were especially warm, helpful and professional. Compared with its star rating, it felt like a five-star stay. This hotel is easy to underestimate.

Breakfast was freshly cooked, plentiful and tasty, as usual, and the staff were polite and helpful. The mattress, though, seemed worn out, although I know comfort can come down to personal preference. It was still a lovely stay and good value for the price.

We sat out on the terrace for coffee and dessert, with lovely music playing. The desserts looked gorgeous and tasted just as good. The place is expensive, especially for Liepaja, but the atmosphere, staff and sweets made it feel worthwhile when we wanted something a little special in the city.
