Sky High Hotel

The airport is so close, it feels like you could throw a stone onto the runway. I can't relate to Zane or the other people complaining. The breakfast and the breakfast lady were my favorite part of the trip. I've never had such a filling, hearty breakfast for so little. Just be on time and don't expect others to make up for you, and the atmosphere is great. I can see how more pretentious people might find the place simple. But if you're into bald-and-bankrupt types who love period Soviet hotels, this place is absolutely 10/10. If the breakfast lady reads this, my advice is: don't change. You're genuine and tell it like it is. Some stuck-up American types won't appreciate that honest service, but real people do.

Being near the airport is the only real plus. The room was nothing special, and the shower was the main issue: when I turned it on, it smelled like rotten eggs. For a moment I thought about just using bottled water to wash. Breakfast was okay, though. The woman running it felt like a Soviet curiosity. Don't pay her much mind, treat her more like a relic from the past. A typical "buffetchitsa," if you know what that means.

Reception was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and the airport is only a convenient 5-8 minute walk away. That makes this a good place to stay overnight before or after a flight. I didn't like the smell of the pillows and duvets, though. Breakfast isn't served buffet style, which may not be to everyone's taste.

The breakfast woman wasn't friendly. At one point she raised her voice at a family member who was looking for milk for his tea, even though tea wasn't served with milk. She said she couldn't understand why anyone would want milk in tea. I reminded her that we'd paid to stay there, and that this attitude wasn't acceptable. I think the hotel staff would benefit from a training trip abroad.
