Hotel Segevold

The breakfast was poor and tasteless, with too few seats. We accidentally sat where another guest was still eating because there was nowhere else to sit. There was a terrible smell in the bathroom, especially when using the sink, and at times it spread across the floor, so it seemed to be a hotel-wide issue. Someone was smoking in the corridor too, making the smells even worse. The hotel is in an odd spot in Sigulda’s industrial suburbs, among half-abandoned warehouses and car repair shops. The room was fairly large, but that was about it: no minibar or fridge, despite being asked for a credit card number in case we used the minibar, and no conditioner, though one was listed. Everything looked very outdated, even though it was clean. This definitely isn’t a four-star hotel for facilities, location, or service. Most three-star hotels we’ve stayed in were much better. It’s okay for one night, but not longer.

For the price, it’s more or less okay, but definitely not a four-star hotel, more like three-star. The rooms are quite spacious and the bathrooms are okay. The air conditioner was out of order during the hottest days, officially because of a storm. There was food at breakfast. The hotel is outdated and needs some updating.

The staff were incredibly nice, and the place was quiet with decent soundproofing. The rooms and bathrooms were good, and the bed was very comfortable and didn’t creak. I really enjoyed the morning spa, which was included in my room price: a pool for a little swimming, a sauna, a massage shower, and a bubble massage bath. Great place.

For two nights, this was great value for the money. Everything was very clean, the bed was comfortable, the pool and jacuzzi were nice, and the staff were consistently friendly. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, which is surely one of the best dining options in town. There was a €1.80 discrepancy between the soup price on the menu and in the computer system. We didn’t think much of it, and a little later the waiter brought two lovely chocolate ice cream desserts to our room. We’d definitely recommend the hotel. Just be aware the walls aren’t very thick. Otherwise, it’s a great place to stay for such a good price.
