We picked berries and mushrooms in the forest just outside, and the cottage had a comfy bed and decent Wi-Fi. It’s a quiet spot near Lake Aluksne, tucked away while still conveniently close to Aluksne. The kitchen is well equipped, and there’s a grill right outside for a summer BBQ. I do wish there were a little yard in front. At the moment, there are only a couple of square meters of pavement where the grill sits, which feels a bit limited.

The owners were outstanding hosts. The house was spotless, and my girlfriend and I loved the scenery, the fresh air, and being surrounded by nature.

Right in the forest, and quite a modern house. Well equipped too!
