The location was handy, very close to the souq, and the outside of the hotel looked nice. The room situation was rough, though. The first one was dirty, with a huge stain on the wall and a disgusting shower with yellow marks low on the walls. I took photos, and they apologized and moved me. I looked at a few rooms, but many had wall stains before I finally got a decent one, the third or fourth. It had a pretty nice balcony view, but the showerhead holder was broken, so I had to hold the showerhead myself. I understand the hotel has new owners and is renovating. I’m sure the rooms will be better once they’ve been redone, in sha Allah.

The location beside Souk Al-Had and the relatively low price were the only things that made this stay worthwhile. We were six people sharing three rooms, so we didn’t move to another hotel, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you have to. The reception and cleaning staff were personable. The rooms, though, had a strong damp smell and very dusty floors. The sheets, linen, duvets, and pillows weren’t clean, and the pillows and duvets smelled musty. We changed rooms because ours had no full-length mirror, but the next room was immediately short on towels and clean sheets too. There’s no safety deposit box, so I’d strongly suggest locking up suitcases with valuables when you go out. The door lock was temperamental. Breakfast was extremely poor, with kitchen prep lacking clean plates and cutlery. There also wasn’t enough food out, so people queued or rushed forward. I gave up going after the first day. In the second room, the TV had no signal and wasn’t fixed despite requests. There was no kettle or hairdryer. The pool didn’t look clean, and I couldn’t tell how or whether it was disinfected. One lift was out of order on our first night.

I’ve been bringing my family to this hotel for over three years to visit this lovely city, but the quality has been slipping. Right now our room is full of ants and has only one towel for two people. My parents’ large suite is missing the sofa mattress, there aren’t enough towels, and the service is far too slow. The pool has been green, and reviews say it’s been that way for a month. Breakfast is dry and bland. Last time I checked, this was rated as a 4-star hotel, so the drop in quality was understandable. If you stay, choose carefully.

We thought it was good value for money, but the late arrival left us uncomfortable. Someone claimed to be the street’s guardian and asked us to pay him to keep our car safe. We refused, then were surprised when hotel staff seemed to be working with him and strongly recommended paying him. It felt like the staff were taking part in a scam.

The one bright spot was the cleaning lady and the reception team. They were friendly, nice, and seemed happy doing their jobs. The location was good too, close to souk al had. Breakfast was really bad, with small portions, bad coffee, and no lemon juice. They put out only tomatoes and olives, seemingly just for decoration. Most restaurant servers could use some practice smiling and speaking to customers. The Wi-Fi didn’t work during my roughly six-day stay. I asked them to fix it, but nobody cared.
