Riad Maktoub

I liked the traditional Moroccan architecture, authentic decor, and ambience at Riad Maktoub. The rooms have air conditioning, hot water, and a proper hair dryer :) The breakfast and dinner options were very limited and definitely not to my taste, so I'd rather not comment on them. Judging by the conditions and location, though, it wasn't that bad.

The terrace views are stunning, especially at sunset, and the kasbah is just a short walk away. Riad Maktoub made a perfect base for exploring Ait Ben Haddou. The rooms are spacious and clean, with traditional touches, and the staff welcomed us warmly and were very helpful. We enjoyed the simple, tasty food, served with a smile. Highly recommended if you're after comfort and an authentic feel in the area.

We stayed here a few times, and the bed was very comfy each time. It's one of the cleanest hotels in Morocco that we've seen. The rooms vary; some can be dark and don't have anywhere to hang your things, though each has a small wardrobe, and one room had a clothes rack. Wet clothes dried overnight. The hotel has a big courtyard with a pool of ice-cold water in April, plus plenty of seats and tables for relaxing or reading beside it. Riads have courtyards, and this one feels especially nice and authentic. We've seen lots of hotels in Morocco, where the clay walls and the dry climate mean there's dust in every corner, even on the coast and especially near the desert.

The calm, welcoming atmosphere and delicious, varied food at breakfast and dinner made our stay lovely. Riad Al Maktoub has clean, spacious rooms with very comfortable beds, and the staff are friendly and helpful, making guests feel at home. The service is excellent, and I'd highly recommend giving it a try!
