Hussein and the rest of the staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The Riad is right in central Imlil, making it a handy base for the town and the Atlas Mountains. I stayed in the Imlil suite, a corner room with two balconies and gorgeous views from both. It had a king size bed and a separate sitting area. The prepared food was delicious, especially the tagine, though they couldn’t provide gluten free bread or lactose free items despite my letting them know about my allergies in advance. Luckily, I’d brought some with me.

Larbi took us on a hike with beautiful views, past traditional villages and two waterfalls. The staff were friendly and can arrange guided walks. Back at the riad, we enjoyed the lovely food, attractive decor and a cozy common room for tea, coffee and meals. The rooms are roomy and comfortable, and there’s a stunning view of the snowy mountains and waterfall. A real hidden gem.

Our room was huge, with two balconies and a great view toward the mountains we were going to hike. Breakfast was as good as anywhere we stayed in Morocco. Getting the car sorted was easy once we followed their directions. Imlil is hectic, and driving on a mountainside can be a headache, so we called as soon as we reached the lower entrance to Dar Imlil. They told us to drive uphill, turn around, and send a photo of the car and our location. They confirmed we were in the right spot, then had us parked inside their locked parking area within five minutes. We walked in through the topside entrance while their guys carried our bags. Leaving was just as smooth. We arranged to get the car at 2 AM the day before.

After the busy market in Asni and the bustle of Imlil village, we found a peaceful green terrace here for lunch. The food was fresh and tasty, and the relaxed setting with a wonderful view toward Mount Toubkal made it a lovely place to unwind in the High Atlas.
