Hôtel GAUTHIER

The staff were really nice and friendly, especially miss Anisa, the morning shift manager in the Patio, and Mr. Zain Al Abidin at the bar. I stayed in Gauthier twice, and the location is pretty good, within walking distance of basically everything. The rooms are fine. I just wish the bathroom had a bidet, so I wouldn't have to shower every time I take a "u know".

The area is nice and the patio is really lovely. I used to stay at Gautier twice a year, and it was always okay, never great. On my last trip, after a nine-hour flight, I arrived to find they'd rebooked my room and put me in another, lousy hotel. The reception staff were unhelpful, useless really, and made no effort to help.

The elevator worked so poorly that we got stuck several times because of its sensitive sensors. There are better, more comfortable places nearby. Unless you're coming to Casablanca to party, avoid this place. We couldn't sleep on two of our three nights. There's a nightclub even on workdays, and after it closes, guests party in their rooms, slam doors, and play loud music. Staff were rude and did nothing until we threatened to call the police. We asked for a room on a quieter floor, but they refused and falsely said the hotel was full. At 2 AM we called Booking and checked availability ourselves, and suites were still available. Staff never offered a solution or an apology or another room. They told Booking that guests should deal with them directly, not Booking. That's a red flag. We're young and flexible travelers, and have never left a bad Booking review, but this was the least welcoming place in all of Morocco. It seems to attract people who come to trash the place.

The last night, the air conditioner stopped working. Nobody bothered to fix it or offer any apology. I've never encountered such indifference. The room smelled bad and was in poor condition, there was no fridge, and stairs seemed to face you everywhere after getting out of the tiniest elevator. How is this a 4-star hotel? Two stars would be more than enough. Breakfast was awful, and the hygiene and cleanliness were disgusting. I wish there were a rating below one star.
