Hotel Campanile Casablanca Centre Ville

I only stayed because I was on a @GAdventures trip and had no other option. After hearing similar feedback from several travellers, I think the arrangement needs to be reviewed. Either the hotel's hygiene standards need to improve markedly, or the contract should go to another hotel in Casablanca. @GAdventures should look into this as a priority, since it gives travellers a poor first impression of the company and makes them question the accommodation for the rest of the tour. The hotel also seems to be in a questionable part of town, leaving solo female travellers feeling unsafe even in broad daylight. The hygiene really concerned me. I found a used ear plug in my fully made bed, so it seemed the sheets hadn't been changed. The breakfast dishes were smeared with grease. There clearly wasn't a commercial dishwasher, which surprised me for a hotel this size. Breakfast was greasy and lacklustre, and I would have preferred to eat elsewhere. Staff spoke very little English and were generally unhelpful. Believe the reviews. This is a terrible establishment, and I don't often say that. I'd give it zero stars if I could.

The staff were good, and the rooms were decent. We stayed here during a layover, and the hotel was close to the city centre. They even gave us food before taking us to the airport. The best part was the meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Breakfast left a bad impression. I hadn't eaten, but when I tried filling my drink bottle with 500 ml of water from the cooler, a staff member told me off. He was very rude and kept repeating, “it’s the rule,” without explaining why I couldn't take the water. That seemed ridiculous. The room itself was okay for the price, though it smelled odd and had large stains over much of the floor. Casablanca has hundreds of hotels at a similar price, so I'd choose one with better service.

I stayed two nights with the do not disturb sign on the door the entire time. Staff still knocked four times, mostly cleaners asking if I was checking out, even though that information was on their system. Twice, people opened the door and walked in anyway. One was a woman in a suit, possibly a manager. Even the manager asked whether we were checking out. This was a serious invasion of privacy. If you're a woman staying here, be careful. The staff's attitude was awful. The regular rooms don't have a bidet washer. When I complained, the staff member first insisted she couldn't do anything. Only after more arguing and asking for a manager did I get an upgrade, after waiting over 30 minutes. It wasn't immediate, and it took persistence. Their reply to my review only made them sound defensive, as if they were calling me a liar and saying none of it happened. The poor customer service is exactly why I say not to stay here.
