Hotel Central

The location is very good, close to the train station, and the service was nice enough. It's very affordable, but I think there are better options for a similar price, and I wouldn't stay here again. The room smelled mouldy. The sheets were clean but very old, with faint yellow marks, and one pillow had a blood stain. In December the room was freezing because the doors to the balcony weren't insulated.

For a budget hotel, parts of it are decent, but the place felt overpriced for the problems I had. I was assigned an old room on the top floor by the terrace, several flights up. The Wi-Fi didn't work that high in the building, the door was difficult to open, and some plug sockets were broken. There was no phone in the room, so dealing with the issues meant repeated trips up and down the long stairs, with mixed results. In the morning I found there was no hot water for a shower.

For what I paid, the hotel was fair overall, and the receptionist was kind. You need to leave your key at reception when you go out. At night, the surrounding area didn't seem very safe. The location is very convenient, by the oldest square and gate of the medina, near everything including an ATM and the train station. But it's a very old hotel, with last-century facilities. My bathroom had mold, and the old window let in a terrible amount of light and didn't seal properly, so the room stayed at the outside temperature. The old door also let me hear the neighboring rooms, and the pigeons were so loud in the morning they seemed to be inside.

The room was big and inexpensive, with two balconies where I could smoke and take in the city atmosphere. The neighborhood didn't feel touristy, and there was a nice laundry place just around the corner. I also appreciated having a TV, fridge, and hairdryer.
