Sofitel Casablanca Tour blanche

The location is good, but the hotel didn’t meet the level I expect from Sofitel. The rooms need renovation, smelled damp, and weren’t cleaned thoroughly. The restaurant took reservations for the AFCON final, making it difficult to find somewhere to eat even four hours before the match. They said they were setting up tables and asked us to use side tables, which made it seem like match bookings mattered more than guests who had paid for a proper hotel experience. Room service wasn’t a workaround either, since its QR code said the subscription had expired. Also, breakfast, the lobby bar, and dinner all use the same space, which isn’t very suitable for business meetings or catch-ups.

Maha’s massages are always careful and professional, and she has an amazing touch that takes away the tension. The hammam girls are sweet and attentive, making sure you feel comfortable and pampered throughout. I love coming for a spa day. The calm atmosphere and lovely decor make it easy to relax from the moment you arrive. It feels like a little break from everyday life, and I highly recommend it if you want to unwind and treat yourself.

The Japanese restaurant was a 10/10, and breakfast was good too. The reception and other common areas looked nice, the views were lovely, and the location is central for restaurants and shops. Internet was good, and the smart TV had plenty to watch. The spa staff were nice, but hygiene didn’t seem to be a priority there. You can see the wear and tear now, though it must have been a big deal and probably one of Casablanca’s top hotels when it first opened. There were plumbing problems in both rooms I tried: even after switching, I still had a leaking sink, with sewage smell coming back through it. There was mould on the walls and ceiling, the towels were worn and no longer white, and the down pillows felt damp and smelled bad. The carpets were stained and the corridors hadn’t been vacuumed. It feels like the place is living off its past glory.

The telephone in my room didn’t work, and the WC’s “Muslim shower” was rusty and placed on the wrong side. The room smelled, the carpets were dirty, and there were stains on the bed sheets. I was very disappointed. One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. It clearly isn’t four stars and needs urgent upgrading.
