Riad Azurite

Muhammad and Fatima were always available and made me feel so comfortable. They even helped arrange a taxi home at a more than fair local price. I wanted a place in Morocco that felt like a home instead of a hotel, and that’s exactly what I found here, right in the heart of the blue pearl. The room was beautiful and bright, with thoughtful details and hotel-level comfort. I feel lucky to have found this gem. Thank you, I can’t wait to return!

Mohamed was very friendly and shared plenty of local tips. Breakfast is arranged by the owner at a place outside the riad in the main square, with lots of local dishes to choose from. The only snag was that replies about check-in could take a while, since phone reception isn’t always good. The riad is clean and charming, on a quiet street in the heart of the Medina. It’s decorated beautifully and has nice touches like a kettle with tea and coffee, bathrobe and slippers. The rooftop terrace has great views of town and the mountains. Apart from the wait for a reply, it’s a top place to stay.

The location worked perfectly for us, just a three-minute walk from the square and close to the beautiful blue alleys filled with arts and crafts. Mohammed’s giftshop is on the corner by the cafes at the full square, with antique and vintage jewelry and bags that I recommend. If you go, buy a wool hat from the man who makes them by hand there. 50dh is a very fair price and supports the right cause! Mohammed is a charm and ready to help with anything. His colleagues met us at the drop-off point, helped us settle in, brought water, shared lots of area information, and arranged breakfast for the next morning. We were very well looked after. The rooms and bathrooms are gorgeous, each with its own themed style and walls painted with Tadlakt. They’re fully equipped with AC, a mini fridge, and very comfortable beds, plus nice touches like slippers and robes. We slept well and felt completely comfortable. The attention to authentic detail throughout Azulite Riad is amazing. I’ll definitely come back.

BEWARE! The place reeks of mold, and I found it extremely difficult to locate. It is not a hotel, and the staff are impossible to communicate with intentionally. Do not stay here. You will regret it, and breathing the air inside the compound is a health hazard.
