Lagon Energy Dakhla

The bungalow-style rooms are nice but pretty basic, and there's no TV or internet in them. Wi-Fi is only available in the shared reception area. I liked the laid-back feel, the lagoon view, and the food, which has enough variety to find something you enjoy. There's no pool, but the hotel is close to the lagoon. Dinner was calm and relaxed from 8 to 10 p.m., then the DJ switched things to electronic music, which bothered me. Otherwise, it was a nice stay.

The kite team is incredible, and this is definitely the best place I've found for learning, even though someone told me it's only the world's second-best place to kitesurf. You're right on the beach, and the care and food were epic. I worried about the lack of fans in the rooms, but opening a window was enough with the year-round wind. We also had brilliant quad biking tours and plenty of other activities and places to see in the Sahara. Great cocktails too. Epic trip, 5 stars.

Our honeymoon at Lagoon Energy was amazing, and while we were still there I knew I'd want to return. I'm heading back this week with my son. The place feels like a peaceful, green oasis by the lagoon, with palm trees, lush vegetation, natural colors, and craft-inspired decor. Large sofas face the water, and we enjoyed the sunsets with lounge music. It's clearly set up for kite lovers, with a Duotone kite school and rental on site, plus space for kitesurfing and wing foiling. The morning stretch classes were a nice way to get ready for the water, and there's a well-equipped gym guests can use freely. I had a full body scrub in the hammam, and the little boutique is beautifully put together. The staff were kind and attentive, and quickly handled a small sound system issue near our room. The cleaning lady kept our room sparkling every day. The food was another highlight, with fresh, tasty buffet dishes, lots of fruit and vegetables, and delicious desserts. A calm, beautiful setting for kitesurfing.

The warmth and kindness of the team are what we'll remember most from our week at Lagon Energy. The kite center had a cheerful, skilled crew and an easygoing, family-like feel. I'm experienced and had a great time on the water in the lagoon and on the organized trips to White Dune and Speed Spot. My girlfriend took a course and was impressed by how professional the instruction was. She made great progress in just a few days. Our bungalow was cozy and beautifully furnished, with an amazing lagoon view right from bed. The buffet was generous and varied three times a day, with lots of dishes and plenty of vegetarian choices. Meals felt relaxed and welcoming, and all the staff were friendly and attentive. We loved the whole stay and are already planning to come back soon.
