The decor feels very Moroccan, and my room was lovely, with a walk-in shower. The hotel sits in the heart of the Erg Chebbi Desert. We went out into the desert in 4x4s to watch the sunset, then came back for a buffet dinner. It was very busy.

The food was a real highlight, with plenty of variety and fresh, flavorful dishes that tasted carefully prepared. The whole hotel was clean and well maintained, and the staff were friendly, respectful, and ready to help. Kasbah Hôtel Xaluca Arfoud (Kasbah Xaluca Hotel) has a lovely traditional feel, beautiful architecture, and calm surroundings. It felt relaxing and luxurious, with an authentic desert atmosphere. Whether you’re stopping before going farther into the Sahara or staying in Erfoud, I’d highly recommend it. A truly magical place.

The property looked impressive when we stopped to check it out on the drive to Merzouga. We booked a junior suite, which was quite spacious, but there was no water when we first got in. They said they’d send someone, yet no one came for hours. Then the water suddenly started working. After that we found the flush button wasn’t working properly. We called again, but nobody came. The place gets very crowded in the evening when the tour groups arrive. The food was average, the Wi-Fi never worked in our room, and the fitness center was in poor shape, with lots of old, broken equipment.

Xaluca is the travel agency to choose for an incredible time in Marocco, so don’t miss the chance to have an unforgettable experience. As a place to stay in Arfoud, it’s one of the best, with excellent service and particular attention to detail.
