Hotel Coté Océan Mogador

That ocean view is hard to beat. Sitting with a well-made coffee and watching the waves roll in was just what I needed to clear my head, or catch up with a friend. It’s a calm place to get away from the hustle and bustle. This was my first visit, and I’m sure it won’t be my last.

We stayed here a couple of times before Covid and recently came back. The hotel has improved a lot since then, especially the breakfast, which now has plenty of choice, including eggs cooked fresh and msemen. It’s right on the seafront in a superb spot, and there’s now a beach area that wasn’t here before. The staff were friendly, and Rachid even upgraded us for free when there was a problem with our room lock. With Le Médina next door now costing a ridiculous amount and all the improvements since Côté Océan Mogador opened, this will be our regular hotel in Essaouira from now on.

We had a great time here and would happily come back. The location made it easy to sit by the beach and walk over to the medina, and breakfast was generous. Our beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. The staff were helpful and friendly, and when we had booked at the last minute and couldn’t get a beachfront room for the whole stay, they kindly let us spend the first night in one of the lovely ocean-view rooms. After we changed rooms, there was a small leak. It wasn’t a major problem, but it brought my rating down to four stars.

We often stop here in the morning for coffee. The outdoor terrace is comfortable, and the coffee tastes great while you look out over Essaouira beach and harbour. The staff are always friendly, and the hotel’s interior is beautifully decorated. Highly recommend.
