Hôtel Des Iles

The location is amazing, close to everything we wanted to see and do in Essaouira, and parking was very convenient. The rooms, though, are basic: a bed, towels and soap. We saw no air conditioning, and in winter they gave us a small oil heater. There was a noticeable musty smell when we arrived. At check-in, the card payment system wasn’t working, and we were charged a higher rate than the one we’d seen on Google. Don’t expect a five-star stay.

The location was great, but the hotel was awful. It was dirty and cold, and the food was inedible. Below any standards.

They even serve fish and chips! This beautifully restored hotel sits by the sea, with colorful furnishings and several terraces where you can sit and watch the water.

A uniquely horrible stay. The building looks as if nobody has maintained it in 40 years, and the old, disgusting rooms had several bugs, both dead and alive. There’s no AC, no mini fridge, and no extra towels, so you’re stuck with the day-one towel for your whole stay, even if you want to use it by the pool. Breakfast is extremely limited, the WiFi is painfully slow, and the workers don’t care about helping and will lie to you. Stay away at all costs.
