Villa Quieta has a small pool sheltered from the wind in a lovely garden. The former private home is beautifully furnished throughout, and the rooms are spotless and well cared for, with very comfortable beds. Service was outstanding, including a wonderful birthday surprise. Mrs. Attica, the manager, deserves a special mention for being discreet and attentive and making us feel at home. It’s by the beach, in the area where horse and camel excursions are available, and the Medina is about a 20-minute walk away, or a €1 taxi ride. It really is a charming, peaceful place. The name means “Quiet Villa” in Italian.

The hotel has a calm feel and is tucked away from the main drag of Essaouira. The staff were superb, the breakfast generous, and my room was great. It’s beautifully decorated, with some reasonable places to eat and drink nearby.

The hotel felt completely without atmosphere, and the big screen above the bar showing adverts didn’t help. Our first room had a loose pane of glass in the window, a safe that wasn’t fixed down, and no sound insulation from the hallway or other rooms. They moved us, and the next room was only marginally better. For the money, it wasn’t worth it. We chose the place because it had a pool, but only managed a five-minute dip. You’d have to get up mega early to get a sunbed, so we went to the beach instead. We were a bit disappointed.

The beach is right across the street, and the pool was great when we’d had enough of the sand. Inside, it’s almost like a museum, with so much art and beautiful interiors to get lost in. There are endless rooms to sit and talk, and the garden is wonderfully peaceful, with a beautiful, elegant, calm cat. Villa Quieta really lives up to its name. It was super quiet, and I had the best sleep I’ve had in a while. The sheets and mattresses were both very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, and we had dinner once, also delicious. All the staff were kind and attentive and gave us good food suggestions. Bassma was especially kind and explained where to go in the Medina. If you need to clear your head and relax, this is a place where you’ll be well looked after. Thanks for everything ✨✨✨
