Palais Ommeyad Suites & Spa

Dinner was nice, and the breakfast staff were pleasant, though the breakfast itself was typical and could have offered more variety. The hotel has charm, but it feels old and worn and needs renovation. My bathroom smelled like sewage, the sink barely ran, and the hot water took over five minutes to warm up. The phone to the front desk didn’t work. My room had steps that felt dangerous at night, and when I asked to move, they said no because they were full. Dust from the construction site next door was a huge turnoff. There are much better hotels in Fez.

We were told at reception to cancel through Booking.com, and assured the cancellation would be accepted after we explained why we couldn’t stay. We’d arrived around 7:00 pm and checked in, but the rooms were very cold without adequate heating, and one bed hadn’t been made. The building felt empty and uncomfortable, so staying wasn’t an option for us. After we left, the property refused the cancellation and claimed we were a “no-show,” which wasn’t true. They also tried to charge my card for the full amount. I’d cancelled the card in time, so the payment didn’t go through. This caused a lot of stress after a long journey. The dishonesty and lack of professionalism were unacceptable. We wouldn’t stay here again, and advise others to be cautious.

The rooms are a good size, but they feel tired and need updating. The hotel sits between cemeteries and a construction site, with very little nearby. It didn’t feel like a safe area to walk around at night.

The room was clean and cozy, and the staff made us feel welcome. We really enjoyed our time here.
