We were a family group of 12. The staff were helpful and friendly, and they even waited for us when we checked in very late at night. Things changed once the main manager got involved. We were charged too much for the 4x4 tour, and the quad tour prices were very high. Breakfast was poor for 50dh per person, the same price for adults and children, and we expected much better for what we paid. The rooms had dust everywhere, including on the beds. We’d picked the place partly for the swimming pool so the kids could use it, but we got the sense children weren’t welcome. The pool was closed most of the time and only opened for 30 minutes after we insisted. Later it was opened briefly when new guests arrived, which made us feel even more uncomfortable. It felt as if we were welcome only when spending money on food or activities. We ended up leaving earlier than planned.

The meal was delicious and clearly made with care, and the prices felt very fair. The hosts were lovely and the service was excellent. We had a great evening with Hassan and Youssef. This place deserves 6/5 stars.

Dinner at the riad was so generous that we couldn’t finish it all, and it was exceptional. Hassin looked after us there, always polite and attentive, and he kept us comfortable with his great sense of humor. We had an early breakfast before leaving, and Omar and Hassin helped make our time in Merzouga unforgettable. Earlier, after watching the sunrise, we took a day trip with Omar that was fantastic. On arrival, Youssef met us, took our luggage, and we headed out for a camel trek through the dunes, around two hours of riding. At camp, we were welcomed with tea and cookies. The tent was simple but clean, as were the showers and toilets, and there was hot water. Dinner was tasty, followed by live music around the fire, and breakfast was fresh and good. We absolutely loved our stay. It was the highlight of our Morocco trip. Nothing to complain about.

The rooms were average and the hotel itself was okay. Hassan in particular was too familiar in how he spoke to us and harassed the female member of our group. Staff kept pushing tours, then turned unfriendly when we didn’t book with them. I wouldn’t come back.

A handy place for a one-night stay if you arrive late and want to arrange your overnight camel trek into the desert from there. Mohamed was really nice and helpful.
