We arrived in Merzouga in the evening after a stressful scramble to find one of the few rooms still available on Booking.com. This happened after we had driven seven hours across Morocco, with a reservation already paid for and confirmed. The hotel messaged us saying we had to cancel because they were overbooked. Their communication was very poor, they didn’t apologize or take responsibility, and they made no effort to help us find another place. Instead, they told us to cancel it ourselves. It was a frustrating and unprofessional experience.

As a solo traveler, I felt like part of the family here. Hassan and the younger guy whose name I’ve forgotten, I’m getting old, made the stay a real joy. The food, staff, Kasbah, and location were all superb for me. Excellent.

The homemade dinner and breakfast were delicious. It’s a quiet, calm spot outside the city, and the staff were really nice, especially Ales, who was kind, funny, and super friendly.

The room was spacious, clean, and had good AC, and the owner let us stay and swim after checkout until it was time to head to camp. We also ordered lunch, which was a great price. The staff were so friendly, and the pool was stunning and a perfect temperature in the hot sun. Dinner and music were delicious and a lot of fun. I absolutely loved our stay and highly recommend the place.
