Les Portes Du Desert

The pool was a great escape from the summer desert heat, and it’s only about a five-minute drive to the busy Mergouza centre for shops and restaurants. The hotel is right by the sand dunes, which made it great for photos. We had a relaxing stay and felt welcome. The staff were lovely and always willing to help, and the owner was on hand to keep things running smoothly.

Merzouga offers sand bathing, or “sand therapy,” alongside desert scenery and activities such as camel rides and 4x4 driving. It can also be a peaceful way to spend time. Hot sand baths are said to help with rheumatism and joint pain through the heat, while sand therapy may ease some skin problems. Being covered with sand is also described as a way to reduce lower back pain and inflammation. For a safer session, wear light clothing and avoid cold sand. It’s suggested to get a quick medical check first to make sure the heat is suitable, especially in summer. Then lie in the sun and cover the body with hot sand for 7-15 minutes.

Great for families. The communication, rooms, and food were all excellent, and the people were friendly!

The service was amazing, with really nice and helpful employees, and the dunes are close enough to walk to. The rooms were great too, and this was the first place in Morocco where I got a hot shower. We’ll be back, and I highly recommend it.
