I came in May, when the weather wasn’t too hot or too cold. If you want a luxurious room with a desert view, this probably isn’t the hotel for you. I valued the more authentic experience, the excellent service, the comfortable and well-kept amenities, and the well-connected package deals. The desert trip should have cost three times as much somewhere else. Whether you’re here alone, with family, or with 50 friends, you’ll have a blast. There’s 4G LTE from Maroc Telecom in town, on top of most dunes, and in some parts of camp. Orange and Inwi had no signal. Vegetarian food was readily available when requested. They have a well and also offer bottled water. Some activities cost extra, unlike with other companies, which is one reason the trip was so much cheaper. We went sandboarding, though I would have asked them to find a company with better equipment for dune buggies. There are lots of online descriptions of the usual activities around here, so I won’t go into those. The friendly staff speak French, Spanish, English, some Italian, Arabic, and local forms of Amaziri. Like most people here, they’ve hosted tourists for years. Get up early for the sunrise, climb a dune for sunset, and take some quiet time under the starry night sky. I haven’t tried other places or companies in Merzouga, but didn’t feel I needed to. I don’t write many reviews, but I really enjoyed myself here and hope you get the chance to as well.

Mohamed runs an excellent tour company from a riad in Merzouga. We had a fantastic 10-day trip with them, and our driver Hassan was safe and helpful. 10/10, recommended. P.S. The owner’s wife is Chinese, so you can communicate with her if that’s your language.

The riad is right next to the desert, so we had a lot of fun on the dunes, sandboarding, and quad biking. The food was absolutely delicious, and everyone was welcoming and nice. They were great about suggesting options and advising us on what we could do there. At night there was a bonfire with music and dancing, which made for an amazing experience. I really recommend booking here!

The luxury camp was very comfortable and warm in winter, but the shower had only cold water. Dinner came in three courses, including a chicken tajine, and breakfast was continental. Keep in mind that transport from reception to the campsite by camel or 4x4 has to be paid for on arrival. It costs around 30€-40€ per person.

We spent two nights at “Merzouga desert luxury camp”, with all transfers and excursions arranged by “Riad desert camel”. It was an amazing experience, and the camp staff were very kind. Thanks to Mohammed, Youssef, Ismael and Bafana for making it so unreal.
