Young Luxury Camp Merzouga

The booking and pickup were easy to arrange over WhatsApp, but the camp we arrived at wasn’t the one we’d booked, and nobody told us beforehand. We chose the original because it had only 8 tents, though it apparently has 10 now. Instead, we were taken to a camp with more than 30 tents. We had to press the point that this wasn’t the place we had reserved. At first we were told the “new” camp was identical to the original and that the original had electricity problems. Only later did they explain the issue and start apologizing. I can’t really rate the camp itself, but being moved without being told and then having the change presented as if it were the same place left a bad taste. I wouldn’t recommend booking here after this experience.

The camp looked amazing under the lights after sunset, and our room was clean. The night music show with local artists playing nomad music was a highlight. Mustafa arranged everything for us, from airport pickup and lunch at a great restaurant to the quad bike and camel rides. Breakfast was a full plate with lots of options, and dinner was freshly cooked and delicious. Best desert camp.

The camp doesn’t have AC or a fan, so when it’s hot you need to leave the windows open. That was fine for me. The staff were really nice, and they put together a full day with a 4x4, quad biking, a visit to a nomad village, and a camel ride. It was a great experience, and I’d recommend staying here.

The best part was the drive across the huge sand dunes. We followed our guide in our own car for nearly three hours, and his experience made it feel both safe and exciting. He took us to an oasis and up to the towering dunes for an incredible exploration. The lovely camp and delicious dinner were part of it too, but it was the whole experience that made the stay so special.
