Hotel Karam Palace

The grounds are beautiful, and the staff are friendly and speak English. The rooms are convenient, but clearly worn out. What bothered me most was the hygiene. The bed linen was dirty, with someone else's hair and visible urine stains. Breakfast was very poor, with little choice and chipped, damaged dishes that could cause an injury. When omelets were served, staff were given priority while hotel guests waited. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unwilling to risk their health.

The room was huge, and the two single beds had been pushed together. It felt dated, with cracks in the shower cubicle panel and towel hooks coming off the wooden wall. There was lipstick on a cup that hadn't been cleaned properly after the previous guest. The air conditioning couldn't cool the room. Rooms numbered 200-100 were a long way from reception, and there were no signs to guide you there. You'd have to pay for butler service to get directions.

The hotel sits on a hill and has a nice view of the surrounding area. I was there for two nights and would stay again despite a couple of issues. Three times, the shower fell into the bath, narrowly missing my feet. I told reception shortly before leaving. Also, the bathroom window wasn't privacy glass, so other guests could technically see someone showering, especially with the light on. The only screening was some shrubbery outside the bathroom wall.

I was staying with a group from Turkey. The waiters were friendly and helpful, but the man providing live music was the one bad experience. It was a Turkish girl's birthday, and when we asked him to play Happy Birthday, he came up with too many reasons not to. We were shocked by how rude and unfriendly he was.
