Palais Menzah & SPA

The surroundings were very peaceful, and we enjoyed a run there. The pool was lovely, the rooms comfortable and neat, and the food was incredible. The staff were fantastic and worked hard to make our stay as good as possible. We loved the food. There were a few things I hope they fix. Drinks such as Coke and tonics weren't available for two dinners. One evening, no water came out of the shower, which was awkward, though it was sorted in about ten minutes. The toilet cistern kept running, and quite a few fixtures and finishing touches hadn't been completed or installed. The place has a lot of potential. We wish them well and would recommend it.

The building is beautiful, though the indoor decor isn't as nice as the photos, and the property has lovely olive trees. It was peaceful and the pool was amazing. But the stay overall wasn't very satisfying. There were no nearby shops or restaurants, so we depended on the hotel for food and drinks. The menu was very limited: about half the dishes were marked unavailable, and when we ordered, we learned that most of the other choices weren't available either. There were no vegetarian options or fruit, and the food was very expensive. The hotel didn't provide complimentary drinking water, and there was nowhere nearby to buy it. Our room had other problems too. Water wouldn't run from the sink or shower until we asked for it to be turned on, it never got hot, and there were no outlets for the bedside lamps. When my husband and I checked in, they said we wouldn't be allowed to stay without even asking whether we were married, as if they assumed we weren't. We were first told we could check out late at 13:00, then at 11:00 they told us we had to leave by 12:00. The experience was okay, but not great.

Moad, the concierge, made our stay even better. He was kind, welcoming, funny, always a joy to talk to, and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. Palais Menzah itself was a peaceful, beautiful escape, with roomy, comfortable rooms and stunning decor. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

A big thank you to Nourredine for welcoming us so warmly and being so kind. The villa has a lovely traditional feel, and the pool is superb, quiet, and spotless. Breakfast was generous and high quality: fresh orange juice, mint tea, coffee, an omelet, and pancakes. It's a little outside the town center, but still a real haven of peace.
