Hotel Saint-Antoine

The smell was really bad, and the rooms weren’t cleaned properly. The food was awful, the pizza wasn’t cooked through, and the service was worse. The waiters were rude.

Hotel Saint Antoine is at the far end of Avenue Mokhtar Soussi in Tafraout, with spectacular views of the surrounding Anti-Atlas mountains. It’s a quiet spot away from the shops and center, though still easy to reach on foot. There’s parking right out front, and a Bank of Africa (BMCE Group) with an ATM immediately to the left. The hotel has a covered outdoor terrace, a spacious reception area, a Schindler elevator, a bar, and a restaurant. It’s unusual for Tafraout, but you can get wine, beer, and cocktails here. Credit and debit cards are accepted, and breakfast is included each morning. The young receptionist speaks and understands excellent English and other languages. Outside, green gardens with colorful bougainvillea, shrubs, and palm trees surround a large, clean pool. One end is shallow for children. Rooms have air-conditioning, comfortable beds and bedding, cushioned chairs facing a table, and tubs, sinks, towels, soap, shampoo, and plenty of hot water. Rooms facing the front have the best mountain views. There’s also a mini fridge for cold drinks and a flat-screen TV with good reception for many European channels, some English ones, and Moroccan and Arabic channels. If you want a comfortable stay in Tafraoute, this is one of the best options.

A strange experience. The kitchen was closed even though it was supposed to be open, and the waiter seemed lost and couldn’t understand us, not even in French. Our order went through, but two of us were served the wrong drinks.

Rooms were clean, had been updated recently, and were quiet. It’s only a short walk to the action.
