Dar Gonzo

Abdo and his mother made our stay unforgettable with their kindness and care. They paid attention to everything and made sure it was all just right. Dar Gonzo feels like a peaceful little paradise away from Marrakech, with every detail looked after and a truly relaxing atmosphere. The food was wonderful too. It was an incredible stay, and all I can say is THANK YOU. Dar Gonzo is a special hidden gem, and we can’t wait to return.

Getting into the city was easy by taxi, even though Dar Gonzo is a little outside the center. I wholeheartedly recommend it and will definitely come back. The owners, Dino and Eberhard, make the place feel like staying with friends, while the suite and its private garden still offer complete privacy. The green, well-kept grounds have olive trees, secluded seating nooks, wandering paths, peacocks, cats, and birdsong. Each spacious, stylish suite has a private garden terrace for sunbathing, screened by a low wall. My bed was very comfortable. At 202 cm tall, I slept like a baby in the king-size bed in the Kallerhoff Suite. There are two pools, including a covered one, as well as a hammam and restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful without getting in the way. It’s a rare mix of beauty and calm.

We stretched our half-day trips to the Atlas Mountains into a stay from 12 to 23 days, and we’ll return for another break for our minds and souls. The massage was better than ones we’ve had in Dubai, Singapore, or Berlin. Evenings in the pavilions were fun and relaxed, with lovely guests, hidden benches among the olive trees, birdsong, peacocks, and 11 rescued cats. There’s also a fantastic tennis court. Dino and Eberhard, the two owners from Berlin, know how to make you feel like you’re visiting friends while still giving you privacy. Their 30,000-square-meter property is beautifully maintained, with a pond, two heated pools, and delicious food made with vegetables from their garden. The heated pools are essential when it’s warm outside, your muscles will thank you. THANK YOU, Dino and Eberhard.

The hosts are generous and charming, and getting a taxi into central Marrakech is easy. The pool area is beautiful, and everything here feels thoughtfully cared for. At breakfast, male and female peacocks came to peck at the breadcrumbs we offered them. Simply paradise. Thank you!
