Hôtel Sable d'Or

Breakfast is provided in the morning, then you're on your own for food. That can be tricky for a white guy like me. I've been here a few days and haven't run into any problems. The women at the front desk have been really helpful, especially since one speaks pretty good English. If you know French or Arabic, you'll be fine. My French is basically “French fries” and “French toast.” They say it's the language of love, but I'm not so sure. Go to Paris and show me the love. Anyway, it's a cool place.

The room was comfortable, clean, and recently renovated. I was traveling by motorbike, and someone kept watch at the door and over the vehicle all night. A solid place to stay if you're heading toward Dakhla and don't feel like camping that day.

I wouldn't recommend this place if you want a quiet night. Between 1:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., a guest's friends kept coming and going, talking loudly. They weren't even staying at the hotel, and staff never stepped in. I couldn't sleep at all. Hasbiya Allah wa ni‘ma al-wakil. It was a very bad experience.

The main road location cuts both ways if you need quiet. Still, the price is reasonable, and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
