Hotel Farah Tanger

The noise from the pool was hard to escape, with loud music playing from 10am to 7pm right outside our room. Then workmen removed the bathroom door to fix its lock and put it back without fixing it. When we asked for a refund after seeing the bungalow, they refused. The bungalow itself looked nothing like the advertised photos. Its furniture seemed cheap, the bed was worse than a hostel bed, there was no coffee machine, and the AC smelled terrible. The sheets and towels were stained, and there was no soap or shower gel. We’d already paid extra to upgrade because the bungalow was impossible to stay in. Getting to it with luggage meant navigating a maze and going up and down stairs past the pool. The upgraded room was unclean too. There were holes in the curtains and stains on the carpets and tables, and the towels and robes didn’t seem to have been washed. We had to ask five times for slippers and robes, while several room service requests were simply ignored. This was nowhere near the proper 5 star stay we expected. It felt misleading and hugely overpriced, especially compared with actual 5 star hotels I’ve stayed at in Morocco. Farah Hotel is 3 star at best, and management needs to take responsibility. We left feeling deceived and disappointed.

The rooms were big, and we had a good four-day stay. There’s sort of everything you need, though the spa was being renovated. Amine, Hassan, Imad and the others were really attentive. Room service could use some improvement at times, and the WIFI needs an upgrade. We’d visit again, and I recommend it.

The hotel sits outside Tangier centre, so expect to spend money on taxis to get to the attractions and back. There’s no direct beach access, and the nearest swimming beach is a 15-20 minute walk away. We had spacious, comfortable rooms with lovely sea views. Sanaa, our housekeeper, made sure we were comfortable, and breakfast had plenty of good options. The poolside service was spectacular too.
